Badger Bowl is holding four charity fundraising events as part of National Bowling Week Aug. 23-30.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, there will be a Cops 4 Kids Bowl-a-thon with 20 games for $20 and free shoe rental for those who bowl 20 games. The bowler who raises the most money will get a free bowling ball. The day will feature raffles and prizes, as well as appearances by the SWAT team, bear cat vehicle and K-9 units.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, it will be Bowl for United Way, with something for bowlers of all levels, from specials on food and bowling to coaching with Denny's PBA Tour exempt player Jeff Carter of Springfield, Ill.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, starting at 1 p.m., proceeds will go to the Red Cross. Specials include a $1 charge per game, $10 for shoe rental and $10 in pro shop credit for each 300 game with all bowling "8-pin tap" -- meaning first balls of 8, 9 or 10 pins knocked down all count as a strike. There will be fire trucks on hand and information on the latest CPR training.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, it will be Doggy Dollar Day with proceeds going to the Dane County Humane Society. From 1 to 7 p.m., games will be $1 each, and shoe rental will be $1. There also will be raffles and a mobile adoption center set up by the Humane Society.
