Prep Profile: Heidi Gors, Madison Memorial

Sport: volleyball

Prep highlights: Gors is a three-time letterwinner as a left-side hitter for the Spartans. She earned all-tournament honors in Whitewater this season. A four-year starter, she is a two-time co-captain. As a junior, Gors earned All-Big Eight Conference second-team honors and was a team co-Most Valuable Player. She helped lead Memorial to a berth in the WIAA Division 1 sectional finals. Gors earned All-Big Eight Conference honorable mention honors as a sophomore. As a freshman, she helped Memorial win the Big Eight Conference title and advance to the sectional semifinals.

Cumulative grade-point average: 4.0

Favorite subjects: ceramics, mathematics

How I got started in sports: I began competing in gymnastics and playing soccer in kindergarten, tennis and basketball in second grade, swimming in third grade and volleyball in seventh grade.

I wish I could: do the splits.

My most memorable moment in sports was: beating Middleton in volleyball in the WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinals last year after losing to them twice during the season.

I enjoy high school sports because: of being able to play with my friends and getting to know new girls on the team.

I like playing volleyball because: of its competitiveness and teamwork qualities.

My role model is: my older sister, Lilly.

My family also includes: my parents, Don and Jenelle, and my younger sister, Greta.

I wish I could meet: two-time Olympic beach volleyball champion Kerri Walsh.

My perfect day would be: spending time on a lake up north with my family, catching some rays and going boating.

If I could change anything, I would: have everybody respect diversity.

I will remember most about high school: the friends I made playing volleyball.

This and that: member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Captain's Club has played club volleyball for five years, including the last two with Wisconsin Select advanced to Nationals in Dallas this summer and placed fifth in 17-under American Division youth volleyball coach member of High Honor roll throughout high school member of Hill Farms Swim Club, where she is also a lifeguard has own lawn mowing business participated for the past four summers in a conditioning program at Memorial designed for female athletes run by Marc Sherry and Dan Enz hobbies include downhill skiing, waterskiing, wake boarding, boating, tubing, fishing.

Post-high school plans: attend college to major in a science-related field and play volleyball
