Summer of Glove: Wrapping it up (with video)
Each week this summer, The Capital Times has gone behind the scenes with Madison Mallards pitcher Kyle Heim for a feature we call Summer of Glove. We had some Q&As, some video features and other items to help provide insight into what those who inhabit the Duck Pond go through during the season.
This week, we wrap up the season with a video feature.
LOOKING BACK
The Mallards held a two-run lead in the eighth inning of the final Northwoods League game of the season, but they couldn't hold on and watched Thunder Bay win the championship.
The Border Cats scored the tying and go-ahead runs on a throwing error by Brandon Wikoff with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, giving them a 6-5 victory on Sunday in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Madison lost Game 1 of the best-of-three series 1-0 at home on Friday, only to respond with a 4-3 victory on Saturday in Thunder Bay.
The Mallards won the South Division championship by sweeping Wisconsin two games to none.
