The Capital Times  —  3/25/2008 5:44 am

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team will face upstart Davidson in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament Friday in Detroit.

Davidson, the Southern Conference champion and 10th seed in the Midwest Region, shocked second-seeded Georgetown 74-70 on Sunday in a second-round game in Raleigh, N.C.

Stephen Curry -- the son of former NBA long-range specialist Dell Curry, who once played for the Milwaukee Bucks -- had a game-high 30 points for the Wildcats (28-6).

He made five free throws in the final 23 seconds to cap a huge comeback by Davidson, which trailed by 17 points in the second half.

The Wildcats, making their third straight trip to the NCAA tournament, earned their first win in the Big Dance since 1969 on Friday when they defeated seventh-seeded Gonzaga 82-76 behind 40 points from Curry.

The Badgers (31-4) advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in school history Saturday with a 72-55 victory over Kansas State.
