How you can helpPeople seeking to get involved as individuals, families, groups or corporations in improving the Allied Drive area may contact United Way 211, which serves as a clearinghouse for donations and volunteers and matches offers of help with groups working in the neighborhood. Call 211 or 608-246-4357. <

Groups working on behalf of Allied Drive residents are seeking volunteer tutors, mentors, sports coaches and food pantry workers. They also are seeking such items as food, office and craft supplies, sports equipment, baby supplies and children's books. <

If you prefer to contact a group directly, here are examples of organizations working to improve the education of Allied Drive residents: <

  • Schools of Hope Literacy Project for elementary students. Contact Anya Milhans at 246-5481. <

  • Urban League of Greater Madison helps run Schools of Hope tutoring at Toki and Cherokee schools. Contact Emily Enders at 251-8550. <

  • Madison School District's Allied Learning Center. Contact Laura Harrington at 204-6578. <

  • Madison School District's youth resource centers at Toki and Cherokee middle schools. Contact Julie Koenke at 204-3018. <

  • Boys & Girls Club of Dane County runs the neighborhood center. Contact Wyolanda Singleton at 204-9722. <

  • Kijiji School relies on volunteers and donated goods to offer educational services. Contact Judy Washbush at 271-3689. <
