The charges in Burke case

  • Misconduct in public office (14 counts) including hiring staffers to work on Burke's campaign for attorney general on state time, asking lobbyists for donations in exchange for support on a bill and falsifying expense vouchers.
  • Fraudulently concealing public records (two counts) by altering calendar entries in his state computer.
  • Withholding and altering subpoenaed documents (one count each). Each is a felony carrying a possible penalty of five years in prison, except for fraudulently concealing public records, which carries a possible penalty of 10 years.
  • Others Tanya Bjork (aide to Burke)
  • Soliciting campaign contributions on state property and fraudulently manipulating data. Both are misdemeanors punishable by up to, respectively, six months and nine months in jail. Raghu Devaguptapu (aide to Burke)
  • Soliciting campaign contributions on state property (five counts), punishable by fines of up to $500 for each offense.
