  • New charges: Three counts of misconduct in office (a felony) and one count of misuse of public position (a misdemeanor) were filed against Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, R-Waukesha; one count of misconduct in office against Assembly Majority Leader Steven Foti, R-Oconomowoc; one count of misconduct in office against former Foti staffer Sherry Schultz; and one count of misuse of public position against Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Bonnie Ladwig, R-Mount Pleasant, for allegedly running campaigns out of their state offices.

  • Quitting post: Jensen says he will resign his leadership position Nov. 12. Among those expressing interest in the job are state Reps. Steve Freese, R-Dodgeville, John Gard, R-Peshtigo, and Scott Gunderson, R-town of Norway.

  • New Senate Democratic leader: Sen. Russ Decker, D-Schofield, says he has the votes to be named Senate majority leader when Democrats meet Monday to pick a successor to Sen. Chuck Chvala, D-Madison, charged Thursday with 20 felonies.

  • Special session: Gov. Scott McCallum calls a special session of the Legislature for Nov. 13 to consider broad changes to the state's ethics laws.
