The other day when I was out walking my dog Jake, it occurred to me that to him, every day is an adventure - even though we were walking down the same block that we've walked down a thousand times before, he trotted along excitedly, smelling the same old trees, marking the same old spots, checking the same old driveway for the same old Evil Cat. Either he's that easily amused, or he's learned to take pleasure in the slight variations of a comfortable daily routine - maybe there will be a bug on the tree, so I can eat it! Maybe someone else will have marked my spot, so I can mark it again! Maybe the Evil Cat will appear, so I can bark at it!
Maybe I should take a cue from my dog, and treat every day as a new adventure - even though I'm driving down the same old road to the same old office to do the same old job, today might be the day when something new and exciting happens. And if it does, I should be prepared to either eat it, mark it, or bark at it.
