Allegra Wakest and Eddy Nix opened Driftless Books and Music in Viroqua Feb. 7, bucking a national trend that has been unkind to bricks-and-mortar bookstores. Driftless Books and Music in Viroqua holds about 8,000 books, but owners Eddy Nix and Allegra Wakest rotate inventory almost daily with their book warehouse of more than 100,000 used books in Viola. Eddy Nix shows a children's book to customer Jaclyn Kane of Viroqua and her daughter, Belle, 4. "I'm so glad to see this," said Kane, who came across Driftless Books while visiting a store nearby. "I'm a lover of books and don't like when they're thrown away."
