Congratulations to all students across Wisconsin who will participate in the
Wisconsin State Journal
’s Badger State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 8, 2008.

Important participant information:

  • The state contest will be held at Monona Grove High School, 4400 Monona Drive in Monona, Wisconsin.
  • Students and their families should be at the school by noon on Saturday, March 8. Students must register with bee volunteers in the school commons, then sit with their families in the auditorium.
  • Bee Director Amanda Kramer will begin introducing students to the stage around 12:30 p.m. Spelling begins shortly thereafter.
  • There will be no “practice” round.
  • A program, bee rules and protest sheets will be available at the registration table for all audience members.
  • Students should bring their own water bottles to the bee.
  • A short intermission will take place during the bee; light refreshments will be available.
  • Students should dress in business attire for the contest.
  • Parents/students can expect the contest to last for approximately four hours, or until a champion is named.

SPELLING BEE

Congratulations to all the spellers who competed in the Wisconsin State Journal Madison All-City Bee on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008. Our first-place finisher, Erich Wegenke, will head to the state competition on March 8, 2008, representing the City of Madison.
