Brewers: Three up, three down

MILWAUKEE - Here's some highlights, and lowlights, from the Brewers' 4-3 victory over Florida on Saturday night at Miller Park.

THREE UP ...

Phew!

Be sure that Marlins catcher Mike Rabelo was happy Carlos Villanueva was able to get his squeeze bunt down in the second inning. Otherwise, Rabelo was anticipating one of those face-to-face meetings with an onrushing Prince Fielder, and there isn't a catcher in baseball who wants a meet-and-greet with Fielder that way.

Nice throw for naught

Left fielder Ryan Braun showed off his arm in the fifth when he hurled a one-hop strike from the warning track to catcher Jason Kendall. The throw just missed getting pitcher Mark Hendrickson, who went in standing up after tagging on Dan Uggla's fly ball.

Who's wearing No. 2?

Bill Hall, a notorious free swinger, doubled his season walk total with two Friday night and two more Saturday, giving him six for the season. Maybe patience is paying off for Hall, who singled and doubled in his first and third at-bats to raise his average from .198 to .215.

... THREE DOWN

Where's the leather?

Uggla and shortstop Hanley Ramirez misplayed ground balls in the second that helped the Brewers tie it at 1. Then in the third, Ramirez somehow missed a sharp grounder just to his left on a ball that went for a run-scoring single off the bat of Fielder.

Nice try, but ...

Gabe Kapler gave it everything he had in trying to track down Hendrickson's slicing liner in the fifth but was unable to come up with the ball in a diving attempt. The leadoff triple set up the Marlins' second run.

What about add-ons?

After Fielder gave the Brewers a 4-3 lead with a leadoff homer in the eighth, the Brewers failed to score another run despite having runners on second and third with no outs. In the Brewers' defense, though, it sure looked like Corey Hart beat the tag at the plate even though he was called for the second out of the inning.
