THREE UP ...

LOOKING SPIFFY

The Brewers and Pirates sported uniforms from the Negro Leagues, looking sharp in the old-style baggies. The Brewers represented the Milwaukee Bears and the Pirates the Pittsburgh Crawfords.

A NEW FIELD

If you make it to Miller Park this week, take a look at the grass directly behind home plate. It's a new bluegrass called Lomo, and the Brewers are considering installing it to erase the splotchy, loose bluegrass that has trouble growing.

NICE PLAY

While J.J. Hardy is the shortstop of the moment in these parts, the Pirates have a pretty good one in Jack Wilson. His leaping stab of Ryan Braun's liner in the sixth was further evidence of how good he is.

... THREE DOWN

DOWNRIGHT UGLY

Things looked so bright when Bill Hall led off the eighth of a 1-1 game with a double. But when Jason Kendall grounded to Wilson near second base, Hall took off and was out at third. The worst part was third baseman Jose Bautista caught Kendall straying too far from first for a double play.

HE'S GONZO

The Pirates sent down pitcher Tom Gorzelanny, who was on the wrong end of a 9-1 loss to the Brewers Friday. Gorzelanny's biggest mistake was a leadoff walk to Ben Sheets to begin a five-run fifth inning.

IT HAPPENS
