MILWAUKEE — While the pro-Brewers portion of the sellout crowd of 42,025 at Miller Park was rocking to AC/DC’s “Hells Bells” when Milwaukee closer Trevor Hoffman entered Friday night’s game, Brewers manager Ken Macha retreated to the clubhouse.
Macha has developed a routine of sneaking up the tunnel to avoid the blaring music, which Hoffman requested be louder after his first save of the season.
This time Macha took it a step further.
"I went to the clubhouse, all the way into the clubhouse," he said. "Gallardo was charting the pitches on the couch. He asked me what I was doing in there."
Macha is probably fine with having to make that short trek, though, when it leads to the type of performance Hoffman delivered Friday. He worked a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts.
"You’ve got a packed house and you start playing that music," Macha said, "I think everybody enjoyed that."
