Mallards blog: Drafted ducks
By TOM ZIEMER
A list of current and former Madison Mallards players who were picked in last weekend's Major League Baseball draft (apologies to anyone I missed while perusing all 50 rounds):

Current Mallards
Belmont OF Carlo Testa, 18th round (No. 535 overall) to Kansas City
Santa Clara OF Evan LeBlanc, 23rd round (704) to the New York Mets
Florida Atlantic LHP Alex Pepe, 44th round (1323) to Texas

Former Mallards
East Carolina RHP Justin Bristow, fifth round (161) to the Chicago Cubs
Georgia RHP Stephen Dodson, 10th round (317) to Colorado
North Carolina State RHP Eryk McConnell, 20th round (616) to Philadelphia
Northern Illinois RHP Trevor Feeney, 31st round (943)  to Detroit
Oklahoma State OF Neil Medchill, 33rd round (1004) to the New York Mets
Stanford 1B Randy Molina, 42nd round (1272) to Seattle
Arkansas-Little Rock LHP Stephen Gilgenbach, 47th round (1399) to Kansas City

Gilgenbach is a former Madison Area Technical College pitcher. Bradley outfielder Dan Brewer, who the Mallards released before the season because he was such a threat to sign, was chosen by the New York Yankees in the eighth round.

Mallards general manager Vern Stenman said Testa is a lock to sign, and Pepe likely will. Those are two left-handers the Mallards could have used on their pitching staff (Testa was a two-way player).
