Even all this rain can't stop my week in review. ...

We're about two weeks in and the Madison Mallards are 8-5 after last night's 7-2 win over the Battle Creek Bombers at Warner Park. That puts them third in the Northwoods League's Southern Division, behind Wausau, er I mean Wisconsin, (12-2) and La Crosse (10-4).

Madison is 3-3 since we last handed out our weekly awards here on the Mallards blog. So without further delay ...

Pitcher of the week: Nathan Kafka — didn't allow a run in four appearances covering 4 1/3 innings. Struck out three, allowed one hit and picked up his first save of the season.

Hitter of the week: Rob Lyerly — hit .421 with seven RBIs in his five games since joining the team.
