ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — One night after stranding 13 runners on base, the Madison Mallards collected the clutch hit.
Troy Channing belted a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh inning, and Madison held on for a 7-6 victory over the Alexandria Beetles in a Northwoods League amateur baseball game Friday night before a crowd of 1,110 at Knute Nelson Field.

The Mallards dropped the season-opener Thursday night, 4-3.

After the Beetles (1-1) loaded the bases in the ninth Friday night, closer Kevin Cahill protected the one-run lead for the Mallards (1-1).
