NFL Draft: Packers take Flynn, Swain in seventh round, acquire 2009 sixth-rounder from New Orleans
GREEN BAY -- The Packers finished off Day 2 of the NFL draft by taking LSU quarterback Matt Flynn with the first of what had been three seventh-round picks (No. 209), then took San Diego State wide receiver Brett Swain (No. 217) before trading away their final pick to New Orleans for the Saints' 2009 sixth-round pick.
Flynn led LSU to the national championship last season, when he threw for 2,407 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 12 starts, after spending his junior year backing up 2007 No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell of the Oakland Raiders.
The Packers finished the 2008 draft having added nine players and made five trades. Ted Thompson has just arrived at the podium now to talk about the draft.
