Here's a look at USC linebacker Clay Matthews, the second of the Green Bay Packers' two first-round draft picks:

At a glance: Drafted 26th overall, with a pick acquired from the New England Patriots that cost the Packers their second-round pick (No. 41) and both of their third-round choices (No. 73 and 83). ... Native of Agoura Hills, Calif. ... Born May 14, 1986. ... His father, Clay, played linebacker for the Cleveland Browns (1978-'83) and Atlanta Falcons (1994-'96). Grandfather, Clay Sr., also had successful career at USC. ... Uncle, Bruce, was a Hall of Fame guard for the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans (1983-2001) and played with Packers GM Ted Thompson in Houston. ... Walked on at USC and, after redshirting in 2004 and playing primarily on special teams in '05, earned a scholarship for the '06 season. ... Played mostly on special teams again in '06, then started two of the Trojans' 13 games in '07. ... As a senior last season, finally moved into the starting lineup, starting 10 of 13 games and finishing with 56 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. ... Quotable: “He's got some interesting traits that are not unlike his father, the Clay who played for Cleveland for a long, long time,” Thompson said. “He's got the ability to extend his hands and leverage against offensive linemen and stay on his feet in positions where most people wouldn't be able to stay on their feet. I just think he brings a lot to the table. He's accomplished certainly as a pass rusher and a run defender, but he's also athletic and can move and has a feel for space.”
