GREEN BAY -- This shouldn't be all that much of a surprise, given some of the critical comments that came out of Brett Favre's New York Jets teammates' mouths as their season fell apart late last year, but his the former Green Bay Packers quarterback's flirtation with the Minnesota Vikings was not warmly received at the Jets' facility.

Stories in the New York Daily News and Newark Star-Ledger have some interesting quotes from Jets players who are feeling a little used by the future Hall of Famer, who requested his release from the team last week after his Feb. 11 retirement in hopes of joining the Vikings.

Favre called off his potential comeback with the Vikings, canceling scheduled Wednesday and Thursday meetings with Vikings coach Brad Childress.

Both the Star-Ledger's Dave Hutchinson and the Daily News' Rich Cmini talked to Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, who pointed out that Minnesota was Favre's first choice last summer -- so he could "stick it" to Packers GM Ted Thompson -- before the Packers traded him to the Jets.

"Before he came to us, the whole thing was he wanted to go to Minnesota," Cotchery said. "You kind of feel bad if you were the team he settled for."

That was tame compared to a pair of quotes from players who did not want to be named criticizing Favre.

"I wish somebody would come out and tell the truth about the guy," one player told Hutchinson. "I'm sick of him. He just came here to give it a try? My career is too short for that."

Another player told Cmini: "I'm tired of being part of his soap opera. If he really wanted to win a championship, he'd be right here. Let's call it for what it is: He wants to play for Minnesota so he can stick it to Green Bay twice a year. He's just being selfish. I'm not surprised."

Safety Kerry Rhodes, who along with running back Thomas Jones ripped Favre at the end of last season, said he did not want to comment on Favre.
