Politics blog: Doyle touts state's fast turnaround of stimulus aid
Federal stimulus spending on road projects in the state will create or retain 5,900 jobs, Gov. Jim Doyle said today.
Doyle said Wisconsin is leading the country in rapidly spending its federal economic stimulus aid. The Democratic governor made the announcement as he sought legislative approval today for spending the final $75 million in stimulus money for roads on 85 highway and bridge projects in areas facing difficult economic times.
“Wisconsin is putting federal economic recovery funds to work quickly to create jobs throughout the state and pave a path toward economic recovery,” Doyle said in a statement.
