Gov. Jim Doyle, who announced Monday that he will not seek re-election in 2010, said today he also has no plans to seek a different elective office.
“I can’t imagine it,” Doyle said when asked if he planned to run another campaign. “There are a lot of good things to do in the world outside of elective office.”
Doyle made the comments to reporters after announcing a federal renwal of the state’s SeniorCare prescription drug program through 2012.
Also today, U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, said she would not be a candidate to replace Doyle.
“That four-year term is very enticing, but I am a legislator,” said Baldwin, serving her sixth two-year term. “My skills and talents are suited to being a legislator, and I will not be a candidate.”
