The proposal for a $109 million redevelopment of the Edgewater hotel has caused quite a stir and divided residents in surrounding neighborhoods.

On Tuesday, Alds. Bridget Maniaci and Mike Verveer are sponsoring a neighborhood meeting to learn about Hammes Co.'s redevelopment proposal and solicit feedback.

The proposal would restore the original Edgewater hotel, create a landscaped plaza atop a 1973 addition, and add an 11-story tower for a total of 230 hotel rooms.

In addition to Maniaci and Verveer, Karl van Lith from the City's Organizational Development & Training office will help run the meeting. Also, Planning Director Brad Murphy and Zoning Administrator Matt Tucker will attend to answer questions and provide information on the city approval process.

The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Ave.
