UW football: Badgers pick up two more commitments
By TOM MULHERN

The oral commitments keep coming for the Badgers, who picked up two more.

Travis Frederick is an offensive lineman from Walworth Big Foot, who grew up wanting to be just like former UW left tackle Joe Thomas.

Frederick is already an outstanding student and now he'll get a chance to play for the Badgers. He got his offer Monday night, after a strong performance in the second UW camp and informed offensive line coach Bob Bostad of his decision on Thursday.

"I'm extremely excited," Frederick said. "I couldn't have fathomed how much excitement I feel right now.

"I felt I did well (in camp) and coach Bostad and coach (Bret) Bielema said I did very well. It really made me feel good."

Frederick was worried he might not get an offer after he attended junior day and two other linemen were offered. But the total package of academics and football were enough to get an offer.

"That helped in the whole process," Big Foot coach Rodney Wedig said. "He's the No. 2 student in the whole class. You put a 31 up on your ACT, it makes you pretty easy to recruit, as well as 6-4 and 310. Those are all the numbers coaches look for.

"He's not what I would call a combine athlete. That's probably one of the reasons he thought the Badgers wouldn't offer him. As I told coach Bostad, he's one of those kids, once you get him on the field, he's surprisingly quick-footed."

The Badgers also reportedly received an oral commitment from tight end Brian Wozniak, from Loveland, Ohio.
