The Big Ten Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference announced the schedule for next season's ACC-Big Ten women's basketball challenge today.
The University of Wisconsin faces Virginia Tech Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Kohl Center. The Hokies went 15-15 last season, and 2-12 in ACC play.
They didn't have a senior on last year's squad, though, so maybe the future is brighter.
The Badgers and the Hokies have met once before, with Virginia Tech winning 75-64 in the first round of the 1998 NCAA tournament.
Here are the other matchups:
Wednesday, Dec. 3 Michigan State at Georgia Tech North Carolina at Ohio State Penn State at Florida State
Thursday, Dec. 4 Northwestern at Clemson Maryland at Purdue Virginia at Illinois Boston College at Minnesota Iowa at Duke
Friday, Dec. 5 North Carolina State at Michigan Indiana at Miami
Last year the games weren't scheduled as close together, so that's a change.
The Big Ten will be hoping to improve on last year's showing, when it won three of the 11 games. UW had one of those eight losses, falling 84-60 at Virginia.
Apparently the name of the event is going to rotate between ACC-Big Ten Challenge and Big Ten-ACC Challenge each year. That is ridiculous in my opinion. Just pick a name and stick with it.
