UW women's basketball: Anderson update
By TOM ZIEMER
Jolene Anderson and the Connecticut Sun wrapped up WNBA preseason play last Friday with an 88-80 win over the Houston Comets.

And the former University of Wisconsin star saved her best effort of the three-game preseason schedule for last, scoring 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting (including 4-for-7 on 3-pointers) to go along with seven rebounds and two assists against two turnovers.

One would think that would bode well for Anderson ahead of the team's cut date, which is this Friday. The Sun open the regular season Saturday at home against the expansion Atlanta Dream.

In the three preseason games, Anderson averaged 9.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 45.4 from 3-point range. She's played 15.3 minutes per game.

"Just putting on that uniform and stepping onto the court was a dream come true," Anderson told the Duluth (Minn.) News Tribune after the team's May 1 preseason opener against the Minnesota Lynx in Minneapolis. "It hasn't sunk in yet. It probably won't for a long time."

Here's a Q&A with Anderson, who's wearing No. 33 for Connecticut, on the Sun's Web site.
