UW-Madison students will see a tuition increase of $618 a year under rates proposed by UW System President Kevin Reilly this afternoon.

That is 5-and-a-half percent increase that would apply to all the four-year UW campuses--the same increase approved by UW Regents in 2007 and 2008.

The proposal, which will be presented to the Regents at their meeting Thursday, would also freeze tuition for the third consecutive year at the 13 UW Colleges, benefitting more than 13,000 full- and part-time students.

The $618 increase at UW-Madison  includes a $250 tuition differential that has already been approved.
