On Campus: Edgewood's dining service gets green certification
By DEBORAH ZIFF

Edgewood College students can now be green while eating their greens.

The college’s dining service, Phil’s, was named a Certified Green Restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association, a national trade association based in Boston.

Phil’s uses cooking oils with zero trans fat, recycles cooking oil for use as biofuel, and uses “to go” containers and flatware that are compostable.

It’s the first college or university in Wisconsin to earn such a designation and only one of eight in the country. Another is Sebastian’s Cafe at the Harvard School of Public Health.
