On Campus: UW-Madison professor joins federal think tank
By JANIE BOSCHMA
University of Wisconsin-Madison law professor R. Alta Charo will take on a new role as a senior adviser in the office of the commissioner at the Food and Drug Administration.
Charo, a national expert on bioethics, will join a think tank on Aug. 31 in the commissioner’s office to identify better approaches to new FDA challenges.
She served on President Barack Obama’s administration’s FDA transition team and was a member of President Bill Clinton's bioethics advisory council. Charo will remain a UW-Madison employee during her one-year term with the FDA that could be extended for a second year.
