On Campus: Nass opposes MATC's rebranding efforts
By DEBORAH ZIFF

State Rep. Steve Nass, R-Whitewater, is criticizing Madison Area Technical College's attempts to rebrand the school to avoid confusion with Milwaukee Area Technical College. Both schools go by the acronym MATC.

Nass sent a letter to Madison Area Technical College President Bettsey Barhorst and board chairman Jon Bales wanting to know how much money has been spent in pursuit of a new name or nickname.

MATC officials said its board decided not to change the school's formal name and while staff  worked on the new nickname no other money has been spent on it.

Nass sits on the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee.
