Sherri Steinhauer was in so much pain the past few weeks she could barely walk from tee to green.
So after missing the cut at the LPGA Tour's Canadian Women's Open Aug. 17, the Madison golfer has opted to end her season due to hip tendinitis and bursitis.
"It was just miserable," Steinhauer said Tuesday. "I was hobbling around out there just trying to get around."
Steinhauer said she had four cortisone shots -- two in each hip -- this season, but will undergo a "special injection" Sept. 19 in Baltimore with the hope of being ready for 2009. Steinhauer said the recovery period was expected to be three weeks.
"It seems we can do something about it," said Steinhauer, who made 10 of 18 cuts this year and ranks 103rd on the LPGA Tour money list. "It's not the end of the world. It's all right. I'm going to do everything I can to get through this and play some more. It could be worse."
