Five from Madison called 'Rising Stars' in biotech

Leaders of five Madison bioscience companies have been named 2008 winners of the Rising Star award by the Wisconsin Biotechnology & Medical Device Association.

They are: Tom Foti, director of custom services, EMD Chemicals (formerly Novagen); Dave Rozema, senior scientist, Roche Mirus; Laura Douglas, president and chief executive, Next Generation Clinical Research; Monika de Arruda Indig, director of clinical and contract research, Blood Center of Wisconsin; and Marilyn Olson-Munoz, associate vice president, Third Wave Technologies, now part of Hologic.

The awards will be presented at the association's annual conference today.
