We're suckers for a good trailer, and the trailer for the new Will Smith superhero/antihero movie "Hancock ' ' has us hooked. Plus it 's a long weekend. Plus we like Jason Bateman (pictured at far left, with Smith). Plus ... plus nothing. We 're in.

Star Cinema, Eastgate, Point

Making Visible the Invisible

Drawn from the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art 's permanent collection, this exhibition explores the history and nature of abstract art, and includes work by Sam Francis, Alexander Calder, William Weege and Ellsworth Kelly among others. The exhibit opened in September; it has one week remaining.

The Sippy Cups with Yid Vicious

The California-based Sippy Cups provide kid-friendly pop-rock that has a charm that appeals to adults as well. Teamed with Madison klezmer band Yid Vicious, this promises to be an interesting show. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids, with a $2 discount for Children 's Museum members ($8/$6).

Sun Prairie's Angell Park Speedway has been a starting point for many legendary race car drivers, and the midget car circuit is among the most interesting and fun to watch. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for students, kids 12 and under are admitted free.

AAU Taekwondo

The AAU National Championship is among the premier annual events for the sport, drawing 2,500 athletes, 700 coaches, 175 officials, and nearly 5,000 family and friends from around the country to Madison. The six-day event continues through Sunday.

Olympic Trials

The countdown to the Olympics begins in earnest with U.S. Olympic Trials in track and field, and swimming. The actual games, in Beijing, start Aug. 8.

VH1 Save the Music Rock Fest

This free show features 12 rock bands from the Madison area including The Journey, Apparently Nothing, Noris, The Readinss, Something Sacred, The Telos Ascent, Flatley 's Crutch, Before Tomorrow Fails and Pasiflora, benefiting VH1 's commitment to restoring public school instrumental music programs.
