Sixteen Dane County high school seniors are among 2,800 students nationwide who have won National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities, the National Merit Scholarship Corp. said today.
The winners, selected by the schools they will attend, will receive awards between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years.
Dane County scholarship recipients are: Lucas A. Sevedge of DeForest High School; Patrick Carroll, Ruth J. Davis, Jacob E. Moskowitz, Marie M. Nahlik, Thomas M. Ostby and Anna C. Peterson of Madison West High School; Amanda T. Tran, Siena S. Brown, Emily M. Lutz, Gabrielle N. Myers, Carolyn M. Sleeth and Louis D. Wilson of Madison Memorial High School; Kerry F. LePain and Joseph K. Hovey of Middleton-Cross Plains High School; and Ethan P. Miller of McFarland High School.
Wednesday marked the third announcement of winners in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., a private nonprofit organization. The final list of winners will be announced on July 14, completing a $36 million giveaway.
