MADISON — Damage estimates from Wednesday's fire at 5 Odana Court grew to $3 million Thursday.
Madison Fire Department spokesman Lori Wirth said the blaze was extinguished at noon Thursday after a backhoe shifted through smoldering debris.
Madison firefighters kept watch at the site Wednesday and overnight as the remains occasionally flared up.
Community Coordinated Child Care owns the two-story building, and Lutheran Social Services leased part of it. Investigators have not determined the cause, but are focusing on the top floor near the building's center. They haven't found evidence that the fire was intentionally set.
