At a glance: Naughty bands

Other college marching bands have had controversies similar to the one at UW-Madison:

Stanford University: The band was suspended for trashing rehearsal a trailer in 2006. It was banned from the University of Notre Dame in 1991 for a routine in which the conductor, dressed as a nun, used a crucifix as a baton.

Jackson State University, Mississippi: The band was placed on probation in 2007 for forcing musicians who played their parts incorrectly to do pushups.

University of Virginia: The pep band was disbanded after a 2002 skit mocking West Virginia University as hillbillies.

Alabama A&M University: Probation after eight female musicians said they were blindfolded and paddled in 2005.

Southern University, Louisiana: Probation after a freshman band member's knee was injured during hazing in 2001.

Texas Tech: Suspensions for 19 members who attacked a University of Texas mascot.
