A wood-burning furnace is the suspected cause of a Mazomanie house fire that displaced a family of four Tuesday morning.
No one was home when firefighters arrived at the house at 425 Brodhead St. around 11:30 a.m. after someone at a nearby gas station noticed smoke coming from the house.
Mazomanie Fire Chief Walter Peterson said additional firefighters and personnel were called in from Cross Plains and Black Earth for assistance.
Peterson said damage from the fire is likely to be more than $100,000.
The family is staying with relatives.
