Cynda Solberg would bring a burst of energy and fresh perspective to the Dane County Board.
Voters in eastern Dane County would be wise to elect her as their District 36 supervisor.
Solberg, 39, who lives in the town of Cottage Grove, is an independent thinker. She promises to approach one issue at a time with an open mind and the professional background of a management services director for the state who holds a degree in accounting.
Solberg acknowledges she doesn 't have all the answers. What she does have is an ability to analyze problems and adjust her position based on public input and evidence.
She is skeptical of commuter rail -- especially the idea of increasing the sales tax to pay for it. Yet "something needs to be done about transportation, " she adds. "Coming in from Cottage Grove to Madison (the traffic) is horrible. "
Her opponent, incumbent Sup. Rich Pertzborn, 54, a Stoughton principal, is a smart and likeable guy. Yet he has missed too many county meetings and seems to be taking his re-election for granted.
Solberg would recharge District 36 representation on the County Board. Voters should elect her April 1.
