HTL: Hit-batsman lifts Ashton to victory

Matt Ziegler was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to send host Ashton over Pine Bluff 9-8 in a Home Talent League Northern Section amateur baseball game Friday.

Sauk Prairie 10, Mazomanie 5: Trent Sorg and Bob Spangler each drove in four runs as Sauk Prairie -- the only undefeated team in the league -- beat host Mazomanie.

Cross Plains 6, Waunakee 3: Kody Simon had a two-run single and Tim Satterwaite followed with a two-run homer to spark a six-run third as host Cross Plains won.

Reedsburg 8, Plain 1: Steve Hedgepath struck out 16 to lead Reedsburg over host Plain.

Middleton 4, Black Earth 2: Ben Bradley doubled in two runs in the seventh to break a tie and give visiting Middleton the win over Black Earth.

WESTERN SECTION

Verona 7, Argyle 5: Zach Spencer capped a three-run eighth inning with a two-run double as host Verona beat Argyle.

Wiota 10, Monroe 0: Tim Lancaster has three hits and four RBIs as host Wiota prevailed.

Ridgeway 12, Blanchardville 2: Trevor Christianson tossed a complete game as host Ridgeway won in seven innings.

Other Western score: Hollandale 3, Richland Center 1.

SOUTHEAST SECTION

Lake Mills 6, Deerfield 0: Eric Wollin scattered three hits and struck out nine as host Lake Mills blanked Deerfield.

Evansville 2, Stoughton 1: Jake Bronkema tied the game in the eighth with a single and an error on the play brought home the winning run to propel host Evansville.

Fort Atkinson 3, Whitewater 1: Tim Garant drove in two runs and scored the final run in the decisive third inning to post host Fort Atkinson.

Utica 7, Orfordville 0: Scott Hestnes and Matt Ellington combined on a three-hitter as host Utica rolled.

EASTERN SECTION

DeForest 8, Columbus 1: Adam Vesling and Brandon Hemstead allowed four hits and DeForest scored six unearned runs to win.

Rio 10, Poynette 4: Kevin Wopat and Nick Henke each drove in two runs as host Rio won.

McFarland 4, Cottage Grove 0: Mark Strey's two-un single in the first lifted visiting McFarland.

Monona 6, Sun Prairie 1: Sean Petty worked six innings, and Elliot Brakmanis had three RBIs as host Monona beat Sun Prairie.

Other Eastern score: Marshall 15, Waterloo 2.
