BLUE MOUNDS -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Monday that there is significant damage along portions of the Military Ridge State Trail due to recent storms, causing closure to some sections of the 40-mile recreational corridor running from Fitchburg to Dodgeville.

The location of trail closures include the portion from Mounds Park Road in Blue Mounds west to County Highway K near Barneveld; near Town Hall Road just east of Mount Horeb; and just west of Verona near Highway 18/151.

The DNR said the areas have been posted with signs alerting visitors to their closure.

"There are also washed out areas too numerous to list them all," trail ranger Cindy Delcamp said.
