WAUSAU -- The Wisconsin Woodchucks managed to exact some revenge on the Madison Mallards Friday night.
A night after losing the South Division first-half title to the Mallards by just a half-game, the Woodchucks opened the second half by beating the Mallards 8-7 in 10 innings in a Northwoods League amateur baseball game at Athletic Park.
Scott Heitshusen tripled in two runs to give Madison (22-12, 0-1) a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Woodchucks answered with two runs of their own to tie it.
The Woodchucks added four more in the second, thanks to Matt Ganter's two-run single that gave Wisconsin (23-12, 1-0) a 6-3 lead.
Madison trailed 7-6 in the ninth before Heitshusen's two-out double scored Josh Groves, who had drawn a one-out walk.
Travis High walked Wisconsin's Kyle Bukak to lead off the 10th inning, and Bukak was sacrificed to second before Chris Wade's single won it for the Woodchucks.
