UW women's basketball: Ex-Badger Spencer off to UC-Santa Barbara
Christine Spencer, who left the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team one game into the season, will play at the University of California-Santa Barbara, according to PaceSetter Basketball president John Waring, who worked with the 6-foot-1 sophomore.
Spencer, a native of Traverse City, Mich. who played four games for last season before taking a medical redshirt due to a hip injury, missed UW's season-opener with an illness and then promptly announced her transfer. She will be eligible to compete with the Lady Gauchos beginning in January of 2009 after sitting out for one year in accordance of NCAA regulations.
According to Waring, Spencer chose UC-Santa Barbara over the Arizona, Utah and several East Coast schools. Chris began training with Pacesetter Basketball last summer. She also worked out in the program last month after her decision to leave UW.
