Packers: Day 2 draft bios
By JASON WILDE
608-252-6176

JERMICHAEL FINLEY, TE, TEXAS
Selected: Third round, No. 91 overall.
Vitals: 6-foot-4 1/2, 243 pounds, 4.85 seconds in 40-yard dash.
At a glance: Seventh tight end picked, although Packers showed serious interest in him early, starting at the scouting combine in Indianapolis in February. ... Came out early, as a third-year sophomore after redshirting in 2005, catching 31 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns while starting four of 13 games in 2006 and recording 45 receptions for 575 yards and two TDs while starting all 13 games last year. ... Had huge game against Oklahoma, catching four passes for 149 yards, including two 50-yard receptions, and a touchdown. ... Didn't run as fast as he or the team would have hoped in the 40. ... Graded his blocking as a B-minus. ... Might have been a first-round pick had he stayed in school another year. ... Needs to add bulk and strength and team thinks he can do so without losing speed. ... Has two children. ... Born March 26, 1987, in Lufkin, Texas.
Quotable: "He's young. He's raw," Packers tight ends coach Ben McAdoo said. "As he continues to work, he has a nice-sized frame where he can put some weight on. At 6-41⁄2 and 243, he's got a lot of room to grow."

JEREMY THOMPSON, DE, WAKE FOREST
Selected:
Fourth round, No. 102.
Vitals: 6-foot-4 3⁄8, 264 pounds, 4.76 seconds in 40-yard dash.
At a glance: Started 13 games last season as a senior, recording 44 tackles and a team-high 6? sacks. ... Had one sack and an interception he returned 86 yards for a touchdown during his junior year, when he started only eight of 14 games while coming back from a major left knee reconstruction surgery after suffering a torn ACL eight games into his sophomore season. ... Has long arms, solid frame and low body-fat percentage, with good initial quickness and balance. ... Showed inconsistency in college in terms of effort and production. ... Younger brother of Packers offensive lineman Orrin Thompson. ... Born Oct. 9, 1985 in Vorhees, N.J.
Quotable: "The one thing I really liked about him was he stayed on his feet. He's a really good athlete, doesn't get knocked down," Packers southeast scout Brian Gutekunst said. "He's not a 300-pound, set-the-point-of-attack guy, but he uses his length, he drops his weight, and he stays on his feet, keeps things alive that some guys can't do. And he's got good enough speed and range in chase when the ball's run away from him that I think he'll make plays from the backside as well."

JOSH SITTON, G, CENTRAL FLORIDA
Selected:
Fourth round, No. 135.
Vitals: 6-foot-3 7⁄8, 321 pounds, 5.38 seconds in 40-yard dash.
At a glance: One of the players the Packers brought to Green Bay for a pre-draft visit. ... Good athlete with versatility, having started his senior year at right tackle, then moved inside to left guard for three games, then moved back to right tackle, the position where he started 25 games as a sophomore and junior. ... Lacks long arms and ideal height to play on the edge, but Packers project him to play guard. ... Helped himself with a strong pro day. ... Blocked for running back Kevin Smith, who rushed for 2,567 yards and 29 TDs last season. ...
Quotable: "He'll play guard and tackle," offensive line coach James Campen said. "What attracted us the most was he brings a lot of fire, a lot of energy in his play. He's a tough guy, he plays with a good attitude. And as important as that is, he'll fit in very nice with our offensive line. We had him up here for a visit and that went real well. He's our type of guy."

BRENO GIACOMINI, T, LOUISVILLE
Selected:
Fifth round, No. 150.
Vitals: 6-foot-7 1⁄8, 305 pounds, 5.20 seconds in 40-yard dash.
At a glance: Came to Louisville as a defensive end, then shuttled between tight end and the offensive line before finally settling at tackle last year. ... Despite height, has good knee bend and athletic ability, which complements his remarkable size. ... A bit of a project because of his limited time at tackle. ... Started four games at tight end his first two seasons, then started two games at left tackle as a junior before locking in at right tackle for 12 starts last year. ... Didn't play football as a junior in high school to concentrate on basketball, averaging 21 points per game as a senior and admitting Sunday that he learned to love football. ... Faced disciplinary action for making obscene finger gesture at Kentucky fans last season. ... Born Sept. 27, 1985.
Quotable: "I've only played basically one year at the tackle position. I feel like I have everything to learn," Giacomini said. "I've got to get stronger, my technique has to improve on everything — pass and run. But I'm looking forward to it, you know? This is a game that I've learned to love — I didn't love it at first, but I definitely do now, and I want to be the best I can be."

MATT FLYNN, QB, LSU
Selected:
Seventh round, No. 209.
Vitals: 6-foot-2 1/4, 231 pounds, 4.8 seconds in
40-yard dash.
At a glance: Led Tigers to the national championship last season, when he threw for 2,407 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, starting 12 games. ... Missed one game with a right ankle injury and missed the Southeastern Conference championship game against Tennessee with a right (throwing) shoulder injury. Came back to rally LSU with four touchdowns against Ohio State. ... Backed up 2007 No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell of the Oakland Raiders in 2006. ... Raw with limited experience after starting only starting one game in 2005 and playing only in the Chick-fil-A Bowl after Russell's injury in that game. ... Considered an average player who could someday develop into a solid NFL backup. ... Born June 20, 1985, in Tyler, Texas.
Quotable: "It was a long day, and it was very nerve-wracking," Flynn said. "But I'm very excited to be where I am right now and have the opportunity I have to go to Green Bay, and I'm excited to be drafted. And we'll just see what happens. I was just hoping to get on a team, get in a good situation and hopefully be able to go to a place where I can show them what I can do and show them what I can be in the future."

BRETT SWAIN, WR, SAN DIEGO STATE
Selected:
Seventh round, No. 217.
Vitals: 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, 4.41 seconds in 40-yard dash.
At a glance: Caught 58 passes for 973 yards and five touchdowns last year as a senior. ... Also returned 10 punts for 88 yards and may play on various special-teams units if he makes the roster. ... Started eight games as a junior, leading the Aztecs with 47 catches for 528 yards. ... Born June 21, 1985.
Quotable: "A lot of people knock me on my speed. I felt like speed was a big part of my game that I felt like I had to prove to a lot of people," Swain said. "A lot of people don't look at me as a guy that's going to blow past them. But when I get up on them and I'm able to run by them they're able to understand that, hey, this guy can run a little bit. But I feel like my speed works with some of the things that I do and it has put me in the position I am right now."
