Madison Edgewood's Alyssa Elliott and Edgerton's Allyssa Ferrell are getting to be familiar faces on the Wisconsin High School Golf Coaches Association girls all-state team.
Elliott, a senior headed to the University of Wisconsin, made the team for the fourth year in a row while Ferrell, a junior, earned her second straight first-team honor from the WHSGCA this week. A technicality kept Ferrell off the all-state team as a freshman.
They joined Edgewood senior Alex Lake, a Xavier (Ohio) recruit, among the area players named to the first team. It was the first time Lake has been named to the first team after being a third-teamer in 2006 and a second-teamer in 2007.
Four-time WIAA Division 2 state champion Lindsay Danielson from Osceola, another UW recruit, earned first-team honors for the fourth year in a row. She also was a repeat pick as state player of the year.
Two more Edgewood golfers — juniors C.J. Enriquez and Meghan Martine — made the fourth team. They joined Elliott and Lake in extending the Crusaders' streak of state titles to eight, including the last six in Division 2.
Ten area golfers received honorable mention, including Edgewood junior Doyle O'Brien and Northern Badger Conference champion Mary Donohue of Portage.
Meanwhile, the WHSGCA announced that it retroactively added former Reedsburg golfer Ellie Arkin — now a freshman at UW — Arkin to the 2007 girls' all-state team. She competed on the Reedsburg boys team last spring, leading the Beavers to a Division 1 state tournament berth.
The WHSGCA voted over the summer to add girls competing in the spring to the girls all-state team for that school year. In doing making that decision, they also re-assigned Arkin's third-team all-state honor for her play during the 2007 boys season to the 2006 girls all-state team.
