Staff injuries on the rise

The number of Madison high school staff members injured by students due to kicking, choking, biting, scratching, punching or grabbing has jumped the last two years, according to injury reports kept by the district. In a majority of the cases, the injuries were caused by students with special educational needs, some of whom were not intentionally trying to cause harm, school officials said.
