A 67-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Mauston, the city’s Police Department and the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office said.

The identity of the woman and the names and possible injuries of others involved in the crash were not released pending an investigation and notification of their families.

According to police, a vehicle was traveling west on Highway 82 just before 3 p.m. when it tried to make a left turn onto Commercial Avenue and was hit by a vehicle heading east on Highway 82.

Police said the view of the driver of the eastbound vehicle might have been obstructed by a semitrailer, which was not involved in the crash but was making a left turn from Highway 82.
