Two pairs of Mount Horeb High School students have produced prize-winning videos in C-SPAN’s StudentCam contest.
The contest theme was “A message to the new president: What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?”
Students Mariah Standal and Caitlin Buhr took third place for their eight-minute video “Climbing Climate.” The pair won $750.
The video, which explores awareness about global climate change, will air on C-SPAN on Monday at 6:50 a.m. An interview with Standal will air at 9:30 a.m. Monday on C-SPAN.
Mount Horeb students Mandy Goldberg and Kally Gagnon received an honorable mention for their video, “Poverty in America.”
That eight-minute video features interviews with local residents and others about the impact of poverty in the United States. Goldberg and Gagnon received $250 for their entry.
All of the winning videos can be seen on the StudentCam contest Web site.
