A Prairie du Sac man was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges stemming from a crash in March that killed a passenger in a car he was allegedly driving.
David A. Dederich, 23, is charged with homicide by drunken driving and causing injury by drunken driving, both felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of causing injury by drunken driving.
During a preliminary hearing, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Baumbach testified that Joshua Holt, a passenger in the car, said after the crash that Dederich was driving at around 120 mph on Highway 188 a short time before the crash.
The car went off the road at a curve and rolled in a field. The crash killed Erin McNeely, 27, of Sauk City, and seriously injured Scott Osgood, 29, of Lodi, according to a criminal complaint. Dederich denied driving the car. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.186 percent, more than twice Wisconsin’s 0.08 percent legal limit for drivers, the complaint states.
