Wisconsin State Journal

A Dane man was injured Monday morning during a boat collision on Lake Waubesa, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said.

Edward J. Seiler, 78, was fishing in 11 feet of water at about 8:38 a.m. when his vessel was struck by another boat operated by Gerald L. Reese, 66, of Janesville. Seiler fell into the water, and was rescued by Michael Morton, 24, of Albany, a passenger in Reese’s boat, which had been traveling at between 17 and 25 miles per hour, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Seiler was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, but his status was unknown Monday afternoon. He was wearing a life jacket during the incident, which the Sheriff’s Office said helped save his life.

Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate the incident and may issue citations, the Sheriff’s Office said.
