A 56-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after he was pinned under a skid loader while working on his property in rural Green County.

Kirk A. Krier was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident reported around 3:45 p.m. at W5828 Robey Road, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Department. The property is about halfway between Monticello and Monroe.

Krier had been using the skid loader to do excavating work when it appears the machine lost traction, rolled down a soil embankment and overturned, the sheriff’s department said. The skid loader did not have a safety belt or protective cage.
