A rural Barneveld man was convicted June 5 in federal court in Gainesville, Fla., of attempting to dispose of assets involved in a forfeiture proceeding.
The charge was filed against Dennis J. Friske, 48, after family members of a man arrested in connection with a Florida marijuana growing operation hired Friske to close up his home in Archer, Fla., and get some items from the residence, said Jon Uman, a Gainesville, Fla., attorney appointed to represent Friske.
Uman said Friske had no connection to the marijuana operation and was unaware that the home was involved in a forfeiture proceeding. His conviction is being appealed.
